Optic & Frame is an international editorial publication about exceptional cameras, precision optics, and photographic culture: the instruments, the makers, the craft, the market, and the images.

What we cover

Significant cameras and lenses, optical design and lens character, camera collecting and auctions, the camera industry, manufacturing and repair craftsmanship, photographic culture, and the people behind the instruments. Significance is earned, not bought: an instrument earns coverage through engineering, design, optical character, history, craftsmanship, rarity, cultural significance, or innovation.

How we work

We research every story and verify factual claims. We never invent specifications, prices, production figures, auction results, provenance, quotes, or hands-on impressions. We never claim to have tested or used a camera or lens unless an Optic & Frame representative actually did. Where coverage is based on manufacturer information or credible third-party reporting, we write accordingly.

Photography of named cameras, lenses, people, and places is real photography, published under applicable rights. We do not present generated imagery as documentary photography of a real subject.

We do not portray cameras or lenses as guaranteed investments. Where values are discussed, we distinguish estimates, hammer prices, prices including buyer's premium, asking prices, and verified transactions, with dates and context.

Commercial independence

Editorial selections are made on merit. Advertising, sponsored content, and commercial partnerships are always identified as such. Product coverage is editorial, not a shop: Optic & Frame does not sell products. Outbound links to makers are editorial links; where a commercial relationship such as an affiliate commission exists, it is disclosed at the point of the link and on our affiliate disclosure page.
